The City of Cape Town will open several of its nature reserves to the public and has arranged free guided walks between April 30 and May 3.
Residents have been urged to get out and explore nature to capture as many wild plants and animals as possible and help the city win this year s City Nature Challenge. It will be competing with various other cities on the continent and globally to capture and record different species.
CDA to set up 200 public toilets

Islamabad : Efforts are afoot to set up as many as 200 pre-fabricated toilets in the city to facilitate the citizens in responding the nature’s call at public places, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Finance said on Wednesday.
Talking to APP, he said the CDA’s directorates of Environment and Sanitation had already issued tenders for establishment of off-the-rack toilets at parks, picnic spots, jogging tracks, markets, highways and bus terminals.
The senior official said upgradation of more than 100 public washrooms was already underway and expected to finish soon.
He said the initiative was being taken in line with the directions of apex court which had ordered for construction of 500 toilets at the city’s public places.

Some 4,000 people will attend the BRIT Awards next month, in what organisers of Britain s pop music honours said would be the first major indoor music event with a live audience as the country emerges from COVID-19 lockdown.
The ceremony, to be held on May 11 at London s O2 arena, will form part of the UK government’s Events Research Programme, looking at whether major events can take place in closed environments without social distancing.
